Prairie Elementary is committed to providing a safe, comfortable learning environment for all students. Bullying incidents can be reported directly to a trusted staff member at your school. This online form may be used by any student OR adult. This form is to report either you, your child, or witnessing someone else being bullied at Prairie Elementary.

Once submitted, the investigation process will begin within 2 working school days. It can take up to 5 days for the investigation. Keep in mind, this process can only be as thorough as the information provided. You will receive a follow up regarding the incident with the number or email provided.

Definition of bullying: Bullying is mean or hurtful behavior that keeps happening. It is unfair and one-sided. Our school defines bullying by three primary characteristics: It is aggressive behavior that is usually repeated over time, occurs in a relationship where there is an imbalance of power, and intends to cause harm or distress and/or has a serious harmful or distressing impact on the target. Bullying includes the following:

Hurting someone physically by hitting, kicking, tripping or pushing
Stealing or damaging another person’s things
Ganging up on someone
Teasing someone in a hurtful way, or name calling
Using put-downs, such as insulting someone’s race or making fun of someone for being a boy or a girl
Touching or showing private body parts
Spreading malicious rumors or untruths about someone
Leaving someone out on purpose, or trying to get other kids not to play with someone
Threatening
Any of the above behaviors using electronic devices

Definición de acoso: El acoso es un comportamiento cruel o dañino que se repite constantemente. Es injusto y unilateral. Nuestra escuela define el acoso con tres características principales: es un comportamiento agresivo que suele repetirse en el tiempo, ocurre en una relación en la que hay un desequilibrio de poder y tiene la intención de causar daño o angustia y/o tiene un impacto dañino o angustiante grave en la víctima. El acoso incluye lo siguiente:
- Lastimar físicamente a alguien al golpear, patear, hacer tropezar o empujar
- Robar o dañar las cosas de otra persona
- Agredir en grupo a alguien
- Burlarse de alguien de manera hiriente o insultar
- Usar expresiones despectivas, como insultar la raza de alguien o burlarse de alguien por ser niño o niña
- Tocar o mostrar partes privadas del cuerpo
- Difundir rumores maliciosos o falsedades sobre alguien
- Dejar a alguien afuera a propósito o intentar que otros niños no jueguen con esa persona
- Amenazar
- Cualquiera de las conductas anteriores utilizando dispositivos electrónicos
